The Process Of Mold Polishing

Mold polishing is an important step in mold making, especially for some need high requirements on the mold surface. Mold polishing, not only can increase the beauty of the plastic products, can improve the pieces corrosion resistance and abrasive resistance, but also be convenient to injection molding with shortening cycle time and ejecting easily.
1. Preparation before polishing:

*The worker should be well known about the polish technology of mold part, including polish location, shape, size, accuracy requirement, etc.

* Before polishing, checking if there is any turned-down edge, corner collapse, transformation, sand hole, and other defects on the polishing face

*Selecting suitable tool, clamp, etc. also making some protection on the mold.

*Keeping the workshop clean and neat.

2. The clamp and protection on mold:

*For less than 20Kg molds, should using bench clamp to fix.

*For large size molds, should using magnet and screw to fix.

*For some small size and surface easily broken molds, not only need fixing the mold carefully but also should using rubber plate to protect the surface.

*For some molds with a sharp corner, should using rubberized fabric to stick it and avoid damaging ourselves.

3. The tools used in mold polishing:

oil stone, file, abrasive cloth, abrasive paper, milling gypsum, milling stick, clean paper, etc.
